Myrtle Beach is known for more than just the sun and the sand. It is also the golf capital of the world with over 100 golf courses to choose from. Here are our favorites…
Situated in arrogantly shabby Pawleys Island, this historic course features the land from two prominent low country plantations that skirt the winding Waccamaw River. Expect a playable challenge for any golfer within your group on this course filled with marshes, freshwater lakes, and 600 acres of breathtaking scenic beauty.
Basing its pride on a U.S. Open style layout for the course, this golf course under new ownership is back with a vengeance. Greens in better shape than they have been in for years give every player with any skill level a reason to come back again and again.
What better way to promote the sport of golf than playing on the course maintained by Horry Georgetown Technical College Sports Turf program and Managed by the students of Coastal Carolina University’s Golf Management program? Featuring a fully well stocked clubhouse, you can be sure to satisfy any hunger you have before or after your round. Offerings also include an all grass driving range, bunker for practicing, and 3,000 square foot putting green.
This elegant Tom Fazio designed course features a five star rating from none other than the most famous publication in golf, Golf Digest. TPC is known to locals and professional players alike as a challenging course for its natural wooden and wetland type hazards. However do not be hesitant to bring the most novice of golfers to this location. Need to work on your game? The Dustin Johnson School of Golf is ecstatic to call this wonderful player’s delight home.
Nestled just outside of Myrtle Beach, there is truly no course like this in the area. The largest feature here is the 107 acre lake that designer Dan Maples used to his advantage in creating a fun experience for any potential aficionado of the sport. Make your way hole by hole to the 9th for an island oasis of a hole, and the 14th and 15th for a unique back to back island green shot.
