James (Val) Van Deventer

Val was born and raised in the Maryland/DC area where he attended The Catholic University of America on a baseball Scholarship. There he received a degree in Accounting and a Masters in Finance. His lifelong dream of playing professional baseball was answered when he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves to play professionally. Unfortunately, due to injury his career was cut short.

Val spent the next 25 years in the investment management 401(k) retirement industry where he was entrusted with over $ 3billion in client and advisor assets. He was one of the top wholesalers in the southeast and has held the CFP and CIMA designations.  

During that time, he bought, sold and rehabbed over 10 houses. He has always had a passion for real estate and helping people with life’s biggest decisions.

Joining Shoreline Realty Group is another exciting chapter of assisting clients in successfully completing transactions in buying and selling real estate. “Navigating complex transactions and understanding client needs is what I have been trained for throughout my career. This is a natural extension.”

Val has lived in Myrtle Beach for 14yrs and enjoys golf, tennis and fishing. He knows Myrtle Beach real-estate and what makes it a great place to live. 

Val enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.
